What is the mountain side of Tokyo?
Located in western Tokyo, this area is rich in nature, surrounded by mountains, forests, rivers, and lakes. The four areas of Ome City, Akiruno City, Okutama Town, and Hachioji City are collectively known as "Tokyo Mountain Side."
Just an hour from the city center, yet nestled within a pristine forest of a Japanese national park, the pristine waters of the Tama River, a shrine with a 2,100-year history, and a settlement of Shinto priests dating back to the Edo period—a world completely different from that of the city unfolds before you.
This project utilizes a grant from the Tokyo Tourism Foundation's Adventure Tourism Promotion Program to create 20 premium experiences guided by internationally certified adventure guides. It will offer a unique adventure travel experience for both inbound tourists and domestic premium travelers.
